Mesoamericans regarded butterflies as something akin to the soul—a belief that was also shared by the ancient Greeks and Hindus. Often found adorning ceramic incense burners—and typically appearing in funerary contexts—their associations with fire, regeneration, and respiration are clear. We love the depth of meaning bestowed upon these winged creatures by our Ancient ancestors, these beliefs fuel our desire to create and recreate.
It is our pleasure is to create personal adornments in precious metals, from sketches of observations of the many interesting details of our environment, coupled with our research and interest in the art and objects of the ancient world. Especially appealing to us are the myriad cultures of Mesoamerica where our Ancestors are from. We strive to distill an essence of these many influences in our final designs. Our hope is that the works become contemporary personal amulets, and foster a connection with the smaller creatures in our midst.
