Our Coneflower or Echinacea Earrings will dangle lightly just below the earlobe. They were initially inspired by the beautiful traditional Jhumka earrings found throughout India, in myriad variations. We love the gorgeous body decorations and jewelry found in India, and have always loved the Jhumka design. I wanted to craft our own version to pay homage to this distinct conical style of chandelier, and the Coneflower seemed the perfect form from our environment to begin with.
They are lightly oxidized with a hand-brushed finish, exuding an understated sophistication. They are approximately 3/4" long.
Nature is a constant source of inspiration since leaving the city in the late 90's; it has informed my work, as do the often overlooked details in our immediate environment. I sketch from observation and work to distill the essence of my impressions and then construct each piece utilizing metalsmithing techniques, enjoying the resist of the medium.
All pieces will arrive in a pouch, decoratively gift boxed with our informational cards. Each piece is signed and dated and crafted in our mother daughter studio in the lower Hudson Valley region of New York.
