Petite 14k Gold Dragonfly set with Ruby, on oxidized Sterling Chain, Gold clasp

A golden talisman reflecting the joyful emergence of Spring.  Teresa and Brie, passionate observers, with an ever present curiosity of nuances of their environs, combine their artistic sensibility with skilled craftsmanship expressed in their delicate yet powerful creations.

Composed of two different metals, punctuated with berry red Rubies adding to the interesting  juxtaposition of hues and tones.  Set with a luscious Ruby Cabochon, crafted on delicate rectangular link Sterling Cable chain, left in it's darkest state of patina, that is gently rubbed for a burnished, earthy finish this piece is a combination of dark and light beauty, that feels comfortable for daytime  and easily moves into the elegance of a special evening.  

An ethereal Necklace is completed with faceted Ruby beads, two on each side, completing the Gold clasp that looks great worn in the front as well as the back.

Our petite solid gold Dragonfly is approximately  3/4" of an inch long, with a 6/8" wingspan.  The solid 14k Gold Hook and Eye is approximately 6/8" long.  The Ruby is 4/16' in length, or 6mm.  Crafted here at 16 1/2", other lengths are available.

Through the ages, the ruby has represented nobility, passion, and purity. From ancient times through the modern-day, rubies have been valued by cultures around the world.  Numerous early cultures believed, because of the stone's likeness to the color of blood, that rubies held the power of life.   It is a gem stone that represents good fortune, pure love, and loyalty, and the 40th Anniversary is known as the Ruby Anniversary, an apropos gem to signify the strength of 40 years of love.

The Dragonfly has been a symbol of happiness, new beginnings and change for many centuries.  Far and wide across the globe, the Dragonfly symbolizes change, transformation, adaptability and self realization.  The change that is often referred to has its source in mental and emotional maturity and understanding the deeper meaning of life.  The Dragonfly’s scurrying flight across water represents an act of going beyond what’s on the surface and looking into the deeper aspects of life. 

It is a beautiful thing that these small creatures in our midst represent so much; there is beauty and complexity of thought often closer than we may think.
