Our Gear Band Ring is fabricated with a weighty gage of Sterling, 8mm in width, with a central element created slightly raised from the ring shank and carved with notches to create my own Sterling verision of the universal industrial symbol, the gear.
Currently available in a size 8.5", can be downsized, please message us with the size you are looking for.
"In my senior years studying metalsmithing at Parsons School of Design, I explored the symbolism found in my environs that spoke to me, and revealed more than their original intended design. The gears and manhole covers embedded in the streets of Brooklyn called to me with an industriousness of another time. Combining my exploration of mythologies of other cultures and adornment, I came to see these as treasures and sought to recreate them in softer non-industrial metals, Sterling and Gold. The circular simplicity of the gear is further important to me as it's protruding cogs are meant to connect with other cogs, creating momentum towards something greater than itself, as we as humans become greater than ourselves when we engage with others towards a common goal be it family or recycling." --- Teresa de la Guardia
