The first insect Teresa created, while still living in New York City, was the Fly. The common ubiquitous household insect created in antiqued Sterling Silver, from her drawings, enhanced with luminous cabochons set in a bezels.

The blue gems, sourced specially for these unique renditions of the fly, nicely represent the metallic sheen that initially interested Teresa, a sheen inherent to these creatures of the insect order Diptera, that are beneficial scavengers, pollinators and destroyers of noxious weeds.

  • Fly Post Earrings are approximately 1/2" long and 3/8" in width
  • Crafted in Sterling Silver, with Sterling Posts and Backs, they will sit on the ear

Each pair of earrings is signed & dated, delivered tucked in a pouch in a T and Brie gift box, with a handcrafted card with a bit of Fly lore, ready for unique gift giving.

The ancient Egyptians revered these creatures and created adornments laden with the familiar triangular shape, to honor valor, swiftness and decisiveness in both Queens and soldiers. The Inuit of the arctic regions of the world carried amulets of flies perceiving them to be invulnerable and capricious as they were so hard to catch.  Midges are tiny flies that dwell in the shady, damp rain forest and are the only insect that can make its way through the complicated cacao flower and pollinate it, thus giving the world *chocolate*.
