"Every dewdrop and raindrop had a whole heaven within it."
- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

From our collection inspired by the inherent beauty of gemstones that have internal glow, our Raindrop Necklace was crafted around a luminous droplet of a gem, Adularia Moonstone or Glowing Labradorite, set in a our handcrafted high bezel, and strung on a delicate cable chain, lightly oxidized, and given a hand-brushed finish.

This gemstone droplet will be made for you in two weeks time, choose your length, gemstone and clasp type.

Ethereal, understated, beckoning a closer look, never overpowering, a symbol of one of the earth's vital elements, represented by the beauty of Moonstones from Ceylon, with their clear interior and flash of blue or a beautiful fine, glowing Labradorite, with its kaleidoscopic display of color.

One of the newer gems in the Feldspar group discovered in the late 18th century, Labradorite is associated with the myths of the Innuit, the indigenous people of Northern Canada on the Island of Labrador where it was first found. The tribes believe the gem holds the display of the magical Aurora Borealis.  In their myth an ancestor struck a rock with his spear, breaking it and setting the light free, flying out into the sky - but some remained trapped in the stone. These stones were connected to ancient magical practices by many from that region. The native inhabitants of Labrador called the mineral "fire rock" or "firestone".

In the metaphysical world, Labradorite is believed to be a shield against negativity and is said to temper the negativity within ourselves as well.  The gemstone is said to stimulate the throat chakra.

Moonstone, owes its name to that mysterious shimmer which always looks different when the stone is moved and is known in the trade as 'adularescence'.  Intricately linked to the feminine principle and the intuitive powers of women, it is said that wearing a Moonstone strengthens our intuition and our capacity to understand.  This gemstone is surrounded by a good deal of mystique and magic. In many cultures, it is regarded as a holy, magical gemstone.  In India it is so regarded, and also believed to be a  'dream stone' which brings the wearer beautiful visions at night.  The Moonstone symbolizes our being in its entirety, with its soft shimmer, it strengthens our emotional and subconscious aspects.

So often we look down on a rainy day, but water plays such a vital roll in life, this sensual adornment is a subtle reminder to relish the rain!
