February Birthstone Amethyst, dangle in faceted Briolette form from woven wire for our elaborate Sterling Granada Earrings, inspired by the metalwork of that beautiful Andalucian city. Handcrafted using many different types of sterling wire widths and combinations. The strength of Sterling and it's malleability lend nicely to weaving techniques which we explored here, and then cast in small batches.

Our inspiration comes from the gorgeous Filigree work on the street metalwork of Granada. Often an inspiration for jewelry comes from metalwork other than jewelry for us.  The alluring Quatrafoil design finds it's roots in Islamic art and flowed extensively throughout the arts and in Architecture crafted in Europe during the Renaissance.

Size: These light, open earrings will swing just below the lobe, from Ear Wires. The Medallion is approximately 10 mm, or 5/8" in diameter. With the faceted pear shaped Briolette dangle the earrings will hang aprrox. 1 3/4" or 3 1/2 centimeters.

Finished with a drop of rich, sparkling, Amethyst Briolettes, (the birthstone of February's Aquarius) or with drops of luminous Labradorite, Peridot or Citrine, a birthstone for those born in the month of November.

A briolette is a pear or drop-shaped gemstone which has its entire surface covered with long triangular facets. Historians believe that the briolette cut of gems originated in India about 800 years ago.

T and Brie Sterling is bathed in a natural patina, and hand-brushed off for a finish that accentuates the intricate details and imparts a satin sheen to the metal, exuding an understated elegance.
